Lets get visual for a moment. No, seriously. Let’s talk about MMS Marketing. I am sure you have heard that a million times or not. Maybe you are new to the term. Maybe you have started out in the Text Message Marketing arena and are now stepping over to MMS Marketing. Well, unlike Text Message Marketing, MMS Marketing is a lot different.

What is MMS Marketing?

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. This means you can now send visually stunning pictures and other media rich attachements via text. In some cases it may allow character length of messages to exceed 160 characters. This is great for communications alerts. However, unlike Text Message Marketing, MMS Marketing can have technically difficulties that SMS does not. See Cons below.

Here are the Pros & Cons of MMS Marketing

Pros

-It visually engages your customers like nothing else.
-Can be received with or without a text message
-MMS pictures can do all the talking for you.
-You are only limited to the creativity of  your graphic designer
-Utilize MMS Marketing to create coupons that can be scanned right from your phone
-Reduce coupon printing
-Send videos in some cases (not recommended for marketing)
-Higher response rate certain cases

Cons

-Requires picture messaging or data (which most phones have unlimited)
-Can be seen as intrusive if irrelevant to your campaign
-Prepaid customers could have issues receiving (not have enough funds on the account)
-Certain customers could be barred due to smart/data limits
-A subscriber may not receive a MMS due to low coverage area (applies to Text Message Marketing as well)
-A subscriber may not receive a MMS due to data option being turned off
-The receiving device could have had wifi on and may it did not connect to the network
-Cost more to send MMS messages then Text Messages
