Lots of online retailers are exploring their marketing options and coming to find Text Message Marketing to be a very effective and powerful way to boost sales. Step 1: Find a text marketing service that is right for you and your online retail site.

Step 2: Set up your auto-reply with a great promo code that your customer can use as soon as they sign up for your text list.

Step 3: Figure out how you are going to capture your customers cell phone numbers. This could be as easy as a opt. in box in your check out process, having a web widget on your home page where people can enter their cell phone number, or blasting out to all your current email prospects telling them to join the list and get a promo code good for something for joining.

Step 4: After you have grown your list develop your text message marketing strategy and deploy.

Step 2: Set up your web widget on your relevant sign up page. You can get the code for the web widget from the purple button on your dashboard on your SlickText account. Just copy the code and apply it to the background of the page you want it to show up on. If you have a web designer all you will have to do is tell him/her to install this code for your mobile sign ups and tell him what to display for the hook and incentive above the sign up box.

The web widget for your text message marketing will be placed in a very similar area as your email widget or even better, next to your customer sign up box where they enter in their information. By strategically placing it here you have a better chance to capture more customers. Remember to include the hook or tagline which states the incentive your customers will receive for joining your list.

Here is an example of what a sports bar and grill is doing with a web widget on their site.  You can see it looks great. Can you guess what they are missing?

One mistake they made is that they did not present the hook or incentive to the person joining so there is no incentive to join. Make sure you clearly state your incentive above your widget. This is important because you need a incentive to offer your customer.
