Text Message Marketing Advice – 3 Trending Forms of marketing

Don’t be left in the dust when it comes to your marketing. Get on the ball with your resources and kick up the notch on your efforts to get the best results. We all know text message marketing can be a very inexpensive marketing outlet depending on who you choose. The majority of the time it pays off with one text marketing campaign. This makes return on investment very high.

As a marketer for many small businesses I understand the value of tying in all my marketing resources to capture 100% of customers utilizing each outlet. In recent times I have noticed three common resources small businesses have drifted towards. Email, Social Media, and Text Message Marketing; with low emphasis on email as it continues to decline and a prime resource for small businesses.

Social Media Marketing

Social media resources, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and others are common outlets in which you can handle your self if you can manage to handle the extra time spent on it. Even though its available to every one at almost not charge; this does not mean everyone can utilize it correctly. Take Facebook for example. Many people jump on the band wagon to use this resource yet they have no idea how to properly use it for promoting a business. The majority of people think their Facebook fan page is just like their personal page. This is a huge misconception. Another misconception is directly promoting your deals and specials on your page. Big no no for losing peoples attention.

Example: Take Buffalo Wild Wings Facebook page for example. They are one of the great Facebook marketers who understand how to properly utilize this resource to gain customers interest and not promote directly to you.

Content Marketing

Blogging may be a new term to you but for many they have been blogging for years. Having content on your site not only help SEO rankings but also helps your customers. Not everyone has time to manage a blog though. The key here is to keep it short, simple and sweet.

Content is not only your websites personal blog but it can mean hosting several blogs all directed at your site. Content marketing is exactly what it means. CONTENT. When Google’s bots crawl your site you better make sure your ducks are in order if you want this marketing concept to work for you. It can be tough keeping up with search engines and their ever changing algorithms but do not worry there are companies and people who specialize in this category.

Text Message Marketing

Text Message Marketing however is a growing medium in which your customers opt. into your campaigns. Opt. in means the customer has to give you permission to add their number or join themselves. This also means that since they are joining on their own they want to hear what you have to say. Think about it! If they didn’t want to hear what you had to say they would remove themselves from your lists or just not join to begin with.

Compared to Social Media where a customer, “Likes” your page but then ignores every post after that, text message marketing becomes pretty effective. Compared to Email, well lets just face it, email is not that effective. The only time I redeemed a email offer was for, “Joes Crab Shack” when I got a birthday coupon and even then it was a huge hassle. Companies like SlickText.com have an awesome feature in which people join your list and can easily reply with a birth date to receive a mobile coupon on their birthday. No logging into your email, no entering more info to redeem the coupon, no wasted time redeeming, and no printing and bringing in to redeem.

Text message marketing is not a replacement for any marketing medium. A great marketer understands and knows how to treat them all and unify them to the greater good of a company. Just because you have a Facebook fan page does not make you a marketer.
